falter

And so they all stared,

at the girl who barely hanged on emotionally,

head down, and trying to smile.

She tried to sing,

but they knew it was her smoke screen of feelings.

They wanted to help,

but they couldn’t.

For she couldn’t even help herself.

She was in the hands of someone else,

so they just stared,

as they watched her falter.
