(Un)Certainty

Their uncertainties intertwined,

The unforeseeable future looms.

Afraid of history’s apparent repeat,

Afraid of losing it.

 

She tried to keep her guard up,

But it’s not so easy, is it?

His touch, his lips, his words, his eyes…

His certainty?

 

Oh, how effortlessly did her guards fall.

And she knew,

She knew if she’d fall hard,

She was her own blame.
